This week in the New England Journal of Medicine , researchers from Harvard, took patients dying of neuroendocrine tumor (this is what Steve Jobs died of) and randomized them to a costly, toxic, branded drug or sugar pill. But you cannot use placebo if there are proven or well accepted alternatives.
