In this series, I will review the two major techniques for addressing troublesome bleeding from pelvic fractures. A multi-center trial published in 2015 showed an astounding 32% mortality rate for patients with shock from pelvic fracture. As I continue to preach, going anywhere but the OR is dangerous for the patient.

Ann Emerg Med 2017 [6] This was a retrospective database review of 7521 traumatic brain injury patients SBP target ≥90mmHg resulted in a mortality of 7.8% vs SBP target <90mmHg which resulted in a mortality of 33.4%

Belly needs to be evaluated for bleeding – there was initial concern re; LUQ pain – perhaps a splenic injury? Wrap the pelvis – use a proper binder if there is ANY concern re: a pelvic injury. Pull straight any fractures & splint them. Remember to apply splints to skin! Keep him warm and covered.
