" The ideal is a fully funded Medical Examiner's department when the incumbent or staff are board-certified Forensic Pathologists. Regardless, there are an insufficient number of qualified forensic pathologists to assume office everywhere. After the death is reported, the Coroner will attempt to identify the decedent.
