Very simply, VExUS combines the size of the inferior cava [IVC] with Doppler patterns from the hepatic, portal and intrarenal veins. From these measures a score from 0 to 3 is given as a marker of increasing ‘venous congestion [VC].’ But what exactly does VC mean?
