I know this is a HOTLY debated topic among EM Docs. For a completed abortion, you would expect a closed OS with no IUP on ultrasound with a previously documented IUP. However, if necessary, it’s certainly appropriate as long as there is a documented discussion of the risk and benefits with the patient. Jeff: Oh it certainly is.
