with Covid-19 randomized to 800 μg of inhaled budesonide twice daily had significantly fewer urgent care visits, and faster resolution of symptoms. Those receiving budesonide reported feeling better three days sooner than patients in the usual-care arm.

Early in the pandemic, there was some observational data that concluded that inhaled steroids were associated with an increased mortality from COVID-19 in patients with asthma and COPD ( Schultze Lancet Resp Med 2020 ). However, the most likely explanation was not causal. It did report positive results.
