Fractures and dislocations are indications for full dose factor replacement. If LP is absolutely necessary, pretreat with clotting factors and speak with hematology. Other procedures needing factor replacement: arterial line placement, intramuscular injection, and arthrocentesis. This includes something as minor as a nursemaid’s elbow.
