The patient was tremulous and severely hypoglycemic by point-of-care testing. The most likely causes of artifact include inconsistent skin-electrode contact and body movement ( scratching, tremor, shivering, coughing, hiccups, brushing teeth, writhing in bed, seizure activity, interference from a mechanical device, etc. ).
