Be careful if the patient has received a recent blood transfusion since it may be misinterpreted as sickle cell trait instead of sickle cell disease. In these cases, repeat the Hb electrophoresis three months after the last blood transfusion. Would you consider this patient for blood transfusion?

The blood tests revealed lymphocyte-predominant leukocytosis with a white blood cell count (WBC) of 40 x 10/L, raising suspicion of Bordetella pertussis. Post-ET, careful monitoring is essential, particularly for secondary bacterial infections and sepsis. The other investigations are unremarkable, including a normal CT head.
