As you attempt to examine the patient, he has a generalized, tonic-clonic seizure. 2005 Oct 5;9(5):R498-501. The patient is agitated, not oriented, and becoming combative with ED staff. A 12-lead EKG shows sinus tachycardia but is otherwise normal. What is your diagnosis, and what are your next steps in evaluation and management?

Patients who cannot tolerate oral intake of fluids should receive intravenous (IV) fluid resuscitation but are encouraged to start drinking ORS as soon as they are able.
