A lower extremity radiograph does not reveal any gas formation and an ultrasound of the lower extremity is negative for DVT or cobblestoning, WBC is within normal limits and there are mild elevations in ESR and CRP. No fungal infections are identified on the feet. Given the patient’s comorbidities laboratory and imaging studies are ordered.
