Colleagues at the University of Mississippi Medical Center have developed a robust telehealth network with over 25 critical access hospitals in that state. Recent data published in Annals showed that between 2013 and 2019, the percentage of clinicians working in rural areas who were emergency physicians actually dropped slightly.
